Marie Walls is a lifelong resident of Virginia and grew up in Williamsburg with her parents and her sister and brother. She attended the Williamsburg/James City Public Schools and participated in the art program, band, orchestra, and played softball and basketball. Marie’s father was a Marine and proudly served in the U.S Army until his retirement. Her mom made a home for them in Williamsburg and created a fun and spirted childhood for all of her children.
After graduating from law school, Marie lived on the Eastern Shore while working in Public Interest law as a legal aid attorney and also worked in the Williamsburg and Hampton Offices of the Peninsula Legal Aid Center now known as the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia.
After working in public interest law, Marie became a prosecutor in Suffolk while teaching at Christopher Newport University and the law school at WIlliam and Mary. During this time Marie was also the Executive Director of the Child Abuse Program at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters. She is a certified instructor on how to interview children related to child abuse and neglect.

Learn MoreMarie has been a prosecutor for over 23 years and she have prosecuted
more than 100 jury trials. Her career has always been in public service,
dedicated to protecting the rights of victims across the state of Virginia.
Currently, she the Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney for Gloucester
County.
As a prosecutor, Marie tells young victims when they first meet that her job
is to help them to speak to the judge or jury. She relays that she is their
voice in court. Part of Marie’s philosophy is that a prosecutor and sheriff
have to work closely together with a relationship that is based on trust and
respect. Marie prides herself on having a good relationship and respect of
all of the law enforcement officers that she has worked with over twenty
(20) years even when they have differing positions on cases or the law.
